Let the Chaos Begin

Alarm clocks are the work of Satan. I think that when I have to set my alarm, I hate hate hate being loud shrilling beeped out of sleep so much, that I wake up 30-50 mins early to save myself the jump start. This would be a good thing except on nights where I have to wake up 5 hours after laying down. Oh well, sleep is highly over rated right?

I had to attend seat belt training this am. It was at the crack of dawn to save us having to stand in a parking lot for 3 hours during mid-day heat. I didn't quite understand why we had to be trained on how to use seat belts, until I watched a few folks attempt the task. Apparently the class is a learning experience for some. Redundant for others.

It was my first exposure to co-workers. To date most of my socializing has been with trainers and supervisors. I must say that a large number of folks went out of their way to introduce themselves. Friendly and welcoming. I was even tucked under the wings of 2 veteran drivers who seem awesome. Invited me to lunch at a local greek restaurant, and asked me to find them tomorrow so we can sit together during in-service. Maybe it is my social magnetism showing or maybe just the desperate look of newness on my face. Either way I was grateful for the social interaction and acceptance.

As I looked around, it all felt very familiar. Familiar is good. I am starting to feel a little less like an alien on a distant planet. A little more like I'm home.

  1. Your lucky to wake up so fast with alarm clocks. I used to wake up before mine all the time. Before I had kids of course. Since then sleep isn't a priority. the alarm could go off for at least 45 min's before I notice that I'm not dreaming that sound. LOL

glad things are feeling more homey. :)
